The Future of Web Design?

Robots

Robots designing web sites? It could happen.

“We wondered what the f*ck a website is for” he said, continuing “a lot of people think they don’t need a website but actually have one” — it’s just Facebook, Pinterest or some other destination. Websites should be that easy.”

Basic HTML + CSS Sites: Carbon and Carbide Building (Top Row) + Banksy (Bottom Row)

Carbon and Carbide Building site: Good content-driven design decisions: the pale tan color really makes the building’s green facade stand out on the page, and the choice of the font “Impact” works to reinforce the solid stature of the building. Nice custom header (a photo of the building’s marquee), too!

Banksy site: The hard work here was this student’s commitment to figuring out how to change the navigation of the template. She found a tutorial online that explained how to make a “horizontal navigation bar” and tried successfully to insert it and strip out + change many aspects of the template.

” … in late 2010, when the Internet, exponentially bigger than it was in 1996, rediscovered the site – almost entirely unchanged from its initial launch. It was reborn as a viral sensation, the web’s equivalent of a recently discovered cave painting. We laughed at the site because we couldn’t believe anything was ever designed this way, but also because it still existed. It remains one of the most faithful living documents of early web design that anyone can access online.”
